Moi-moi leaves are natural leaves traditionally used in Nigeria to wrap and cook moi-moi, a steamed bean pudding made from blended beans, pepper, onions, and oil. The leaves commonly come from plants such as Thaumatococcus daniellii or banana leaves. They are valued because they give moi-moi a distinct natural aroma and flavour that cannot easily be achieved with nylon or plastic containers. The leaves are usually washed, folded into small cones or pockets, filled with the bean mixture, and then steamed until cooked. Besides adding flavour, moi-moi leaves are also environmentally friendly and biodegradable, making them a preferred traditional cooking method in many Nigerian homes and markets
